Queen of Peace Hosts Softball Fundraiser: Swing for Peace!
Burbank, IL –August 14, 2014 – Calling all softball players, spectators and barbecue fans! Come “Swing for Peace” on Sunday, September 14th at Queen of Peace High School. Join the Co-ed team or the women’s team. This is a 21 and over event. All Proceeds from this event will go toward enhancements to the athletic program. The entry fee will include a t-shirt and food. 9am on-site registration and check in. 10am start. Individual registration before 8/31 is $35. Individual registration after 8/31 is $40. DISTRICT 111 2013-14 School Calendar Update
The official school calendar for the current school year will be amended due to the four emergency days used for inclement weather last month. The ISAT Testing window will now begin on March 10th. The last day of school will be June 5th if no more emergency days are used. All students are required to be in attendance on the make up days. Reavis High School is inviting parents of 2nd semester Driver Education students to our 3rd annual Parent/Teen Permit Night on Wednesday, January 22nd in the Grossman Auditorium from 6-7pm. You will meet the staff, view a presentation on distracted driving, and receive your permits.

SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
What are Supplemental Educational Services (SES)?
An important feature of the No Child Left Behind Act provides that when a child from a low-income family is attending a low-performing school, federal money can be used to provide supplemental educational services for that child. The term "supplemental educational services" (SES) refers to tutoring and other supplemental academic enrichment services, usually in reading, language arts or math. This extra help can be provided before or after school or on weekends. Your school district has established criteria based on family income. Often these criteria are the same as those for eligibility for free and reduced price lunches. If your family qualifies as low-income under your school district's criteria and your child's school is designated as needing improvement for the second year or is in corrective action or restructuring status, then your child is eligible.

FUTURE RAM NIGHT TRIPLE HEADER
The Future Ram Night Triple Header will be held at Reavis High School on Friday, January 31, 2014. An 8th grade basketball battle between Liberty and Sahs will take place at 4:00 p.m. followed by sophomore and varsity games - Reavis Vs. Argo.

The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes players, coaches, athletic directors and teams who have made significant contributions to the Peace athletic program. Come on out and cheer on our 2014 inductees on January 28th. The induction ceremony will take place after the Peace vs. Nazareth Varsity basketball game…approximately 7:15.
Immediately following the induction a reception honoring our inductees will be hosted. The reception ticket cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

ALUMNAE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

The Queen of Peace Athletic Department will host this fun event for Peace alumnae and friends. Proceeds from your participation will offset the cost of our new volleyball game net and standards along with a Stairmaster for the Peace Fitness Center.
The cost will be $30 per player/$300 per team (max team roster – 10). Register a team or as a single player. All players will receive a game T-shirt. Registration deadline is January 31, 2014.

Spring has finally arrived in the Chicago area and many of us are looking to get outside and get some much needed exercise. There are several upcoming 5K run/walks in Burbank that will put a "spring" in your step. These events will get you outdoors and get you moving while at the same time raising funds for local causes.
Queen of Peace High School is hosting a 5K run/walk on Sunday, May 5th at 9 a.m. The event will begin at the Queen of Peace campus located at 7659 S Linder, Burbank. Online registration has closed but you may register the day of the race for $40. The monies raised will be donated to the Student Programing and Curriculum Enhancement Fund. A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative will host its 4th annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, May 11th at Reavis High School, 6034 W 77th St, Burbank. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $25 and proceeds will go to starting a Special Olympics program at the school. On Sunday, May 12, 2013, Bobbo's Fund For Young Hearts (a 501(c) (3) Public Charity) will host it's 3rd Annual "Bobbo's Walk," a 4 mile walk beginning and ending at Reavis High School. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and the walk will kick off at 8 a.m. Drinks will be provided and each registered participant will receive a free t-shirt. The registration fee is $35 for adults, $25 for students but register online by 5/4/2013 and save $10. The fund's purpose is to battle cardiac death in young people by raising money for heart screenings and the purchase of portable AED's for local schools and youth sport organizations.
