Stickney Public Health District is dedicated to spreading the word about Get Covered Illinois and the range of health insurance options and community resources that are available to residents.
With the deadline approaching for open enrollment of March 31st, an increased number of counselors are on hand to supply information to community members, in both English and Spanish, about the new health insurance options available through Get Covered Illinois – The Official Health Marketplace.
“Residents should sign up sooner, rather than later,” says Nicole Litterio, In-Person Counselor for the health district. After March 31st, cautions Latterio, there will be four months before another open enrollment period is offered and penalties for the non-insured could be incurred.
“We are committed to improving the health of the community “said Louis Viverito, Health Board President and Stickney Township Supervisor “We’re here to make sure community members know about the affordable health insurance options that are available to them, and to get the information and assistance they need to sign up for the plan that is best for them.”
To that end, Litterio will be on-site to assist in taking registrations and answering questions at the Stickney Township Medical Center, 5635 State Road in Burbank. Residents may call 708 424-9200 to make an appointment. Evening hours are available.
Additionally, Litterio will also be holding some community events for the convenience of residents.
Registrations will be taken at the Prairie Trail Library, 8449 S. Moody in Burbank every third Tuesday until June from 5 to 6 p.m. The Burbank Park District Fusion Recplex Center at 6100 W. 85th Street will also be a site for information and registrations on February 10, March 10, April 14 and May 12 from 5-6 p.m.
For information about other community events, visit www.GetCoveredIllinois.gov/events. Residents may also call Stickney Public Health District at 708/424-9200 with any questions or to make an appointment for assistance in the enrollment process.
