The Illinois Chargers are pleased to announce the tryout dates for their 2017 Full Time 14U Travel Baseball Team. Tryouts will be held at Burbank National Field #4, 6400 77th St., in Burbank on Tuesday, July 26, 6 - 8 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 10 - 11:30 a.m. and Tuesday, August 2, 6 - 8 p.m.
The 14U Illinois Chargers - Walsh, will play Elite/AAA Division Baseball. We are seeking committed players that have a genuine desire to take their game to the next level.
Coaching and instruction is provided by Mount Carmel High School/Indiana University Baseball Player with 35 years experience as a player and a coach, as well as a Brother Rice/Northwestern University All Big 10 Player.
As an organization, our goal is to provide our players with advanced skill instruction that will help them pursue their dreams in baseball. This is a wonderful opportunity for players looking to step up and prepare to play high school baseball.
Practices will be consistent and based upon practices typically used at Division 1 baseball programs. With the support of parents and dedicated hard work from the players, we believe the players will be prepared to compete with some of the best teams in their age group.
The Chargers will have winter workouts that focus on skill development with strength training (no weight lifting) and conditioning. Our goal is to improve each player’s capabilities in all facets of the game (hitting, fielding, pitching, infield, outfield, base running, speed and strength). As the season approaches, the practices will have more emphasis on situational play.
Good sportsmanship will be mandatory for all Chargers.
For the 2017 season, we will play the majority of our games at local/regional weekend tournaments. We will practice during the week. Team size will consist of 11-12 players and 2-3 dedicated pitchers. NO COACHING FEES, EVERY PENNY WILL BE SPENT ON THE PLAYERS.
Dedicated pitchers will have their own training protocol in addition to team practices. Dedicated pitchers will participate in an arm program that has been developed in conjunction with local orthopedic surgeons. The pitchers will have mound work during the week in preparation for games.
