The Burbank Police Department issued a press release Thursday regarding a retail theft incident which occurred earlier this week at the Burbank Sports Authority.
The Burbank Police Department is investigating a Retail Theft which occurred at the Sports Authority (7720 S. Cicero, Burbank, IL) on Monday, November 4th, 2013 at approximately 1:00 pm. Approximately five young African American men between the ages of 15 – 20 years of age entered the store together and began to grab several display racks displaying Starter Jackets. The young men then dragged the racks with the jackets towards the exit doors but most of the jackets remained attached with security devices to the racks. Sports Authority claims two jackets were stolen but three others were damaged in the process.
The offenders were all observed entering into a white 2000 Pontiac mini-van bearing Illinois Registration N916290 when it fled the area.
There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
This incident mirrors that of incidents which occurred at a Sports Authority in Franfort IL., and at 3134 N. Clark St. in Chicago.
Citizens are urged to contact the Burbank Police Department Investigative Unit with any information pertaining to this at 708-924-7300.
Sports Authority is offering a $5,000.00 award through CrimeStoppers for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of these offenders.
