On the twelfth anniversary of the murder, Jennifer's sister Rebecca Hernandez plans to host a memorial balloon launch to celebrate Jennifer life and bring awareness to the unsolved case.
Hernandez recently issued the following letter:
To whom it may concern:
On Saturday, August 3, 2002, my sister Jennifer Boyd was violently murdered while working at Public Storage in Bedford Park, Illinois. Jennifer was stabbed numerous times, locked in a storage unit to die. As of today, Jennifer’s case is still unsolved and the monster(s) that took her life walk the streets amongst all of us; they going leaving their normal lives while my family and her friends live without her. So much was taken from all of us that day.
On Sunday, August 3, 2014, I will be holding a memorial balloon launch at the Public Storage where Jennifer was killed 6990 W 79th Street, Bedford Park, Illinois at 12:30 PM. Not only will this be a celebration of her life but it will also be a way to bring awareness to her case which will hopefully lead ultimately to the capture of her killer(s).
Even after 12 years we hold out hope that Jennifer’s killer/killers are caught and brought to justice. Public Storage is offering a $25,000 reward that leads to the arrest of her killer(s).
The Bedford Park Police and I are inviting the media to help bring her story back into the public eye.
