Charles Jones, 57, was charged with four counts of public indecency, according to Division Chief Mike Dudlo of the Burbank Police Department.
The children were playing outside a home in the 4800 block of 86th Place on May 11 around 8 p.m. when Jones exposed himself, police reports indicate. An adult neighbor also witnessed the incident.
According to Dudlo, Jones was riding a bicycle in the area when he began yelling at the children to stop using “bad words.”
“Shortly thereafter, [Jones] got off of his bicycle, lowered his pants and underwear and began touching his penis while continuing to yell at the children,” Dudlo said in an email.
The frightened children retreated inside the home and reported the incident to their parents who called police.
Jones was no longer in the area when responding officers first arrived. While officers were gathering information, Jones once again rode past the home on his bicycle and was identified by the adult witness and the children as the man who exposed himself.
Police arrested Jones and transported him to the Burbank police station for processing.
While in custody, Jones allegedly told police he may have “unintentionally exposed himself to some kids while urinating,” but declined to speak further about the incident, police reports indicate.
Jones appeared at the Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing on May 12. Jones is being held at Cook County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. His next court date is May 24 in Bridgeview.
