Police said the shooting may have been gang related, according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times.
The incident happened around 9:55 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Karlov Avenue.
Hani Yousef, 24, of South Luna Avenue in Burbank, was a passenger in an automobile that was southbound on Karlov Avenue when an unknown gunman in a black SUV opened fire near 65th Street, the Sun-Times reported.
The car continued southbound on Karlov Avenue about two blocks before the driver lost control and crashed into a home near Marquette Road.
Yousef was shot in the chest while the 23 year-old driver suffered a graze wound to the neck, according to the Sun-Times.
Yousef was transported to Holy Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver was taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition.
