Lavell Turner, 35 and Louis Banks 50, both of Chicago, and Adrian Fields, 59 of Blue Island were each charged with one count of felony theft in connection with the stolen tools, according to police.
The trio was arrested after their car was stopped in the 7700 block of S. Moody Avenue about 5 a.m. Friday. The officer became suspicious when he spotted numerous power tools in the vehicle and the men gave inconsistent answers when questioned about the implements.
Police hope to return the alleged purloined tools to their rightful owners. So far three people have come forward and identified items that were recovered from the suspects’ vehicle but detectives still have several power tools that remain unclaimed.
“If you or somebody you know were a victim of a theft from their motor vehicle in the morning hours of June 3rd, please contact the Burbank Police Department to file a report and to identify your tools,” the Burbank Police Department posted on their Facebook page.
The men made their initial appearance at a Sunday morning bond hearing in the Leighton Criminal Court Building, 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago. The judge set bail at $25,000 for Banks and Fields, and $10,000 for Turner, according to police.
The three are due back in court June 7 in Bridgeview.
