NOTE: This post is derived from the Oak Lawn Patch article "Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump Take Worth Township in Illinois Primary." The author of that article, Lorraine Swanson, graciously granted permission to use the body of her work for this story.

Uncertified vote tallies show presidential hopefuls Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump winning their respective political party primaries in Stickney Township, according to Cook County Clerk’s website.

Stickney Township encompasses the communities of Burbank, Stickney, Forest View, and the eastern half of Bedford Park, as well as some small portions of Bridgeview. The unincorporated communities of Central Stickney and Nottingham Park are also within the township.

Stickney Township's approximate borders are Pershing Road (39th Street) on the north, Cicero Avenue on the east, 87th Street on the south, and Harlem Avenue on the west, excepting those areas in the Chicago communities of Garfield Ridge and Clearing.

Across suburban Cook County, 690,851 ballots were cast among the suburban Cook’s 1,443,261 registered voters.

On the Republican side, Donald Trump came out ahead on 62 percent of ballots cast in Stickney Township, followed by Ted Cruz (21 percent), John Kasich (8 percent), and Marco Rubio (7 percent).
