Division Chief Mike Dudlo of the Burbank Police Department, said three masked men entered the 7-Eleven store, 5560 W 87th Street, around 7:17 p.m. and made their way behind the counter. Two of the men confronted the employees while the third man removed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register
“One offender struck an employee on the side of his head,” Dudlo said in an email. “A weapon was inferred by the offenders but one was never seen by the employees.”
Dudlo said the clerk who was struck in the head received a “minor, non-life threatening injury.”
A description of the suspects was not immediately available.
The men fled the 7-Eleven in a black Jeep Cherokee that had been reported stolen in the City of Chicago Monday night. A short time later, a similar vehicle with subjects matching the description of the alleged 7-Eleven robbers was involved in an armed robbery in the 8100 block of S. Pulaski Road in Chicago, according to police.
Chicago Police spotted the vehicle and pursued the Jeep until it was abandoned near 61st Street and Francisco Avenue after which a foot chase ensued. Chicago police captured one of the men, a 17-year-old juvenile, a short time later.
Dudlo said that charges are pending against the juvenile in the Burbank robbery. The recovered stolen vehicle is in custody of the Chicago Police Department.
Dudlo said the investigation into the 7-Eleven robbery is on-going.
“Anyone having any information on the remaining offenders is asked to contact the Burbank Police Department 708-924-7300,” Dudlo said.
