The family of a deceased man is suing a Burbank healthcare facility over claims that the man was prescribed incorrect medication.
Rena Edgeston, the administrator of the estate of Robert J. Edgeston, filed a complaint June 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against the parent companies of Brentwood Sub-Acute Healthcare Center, located at 5400 W 87th St, Burbank, according to the Cook County Record.
The lawsuit alleges that when Edgeston was discharged from being a patient at the Burbank nursing home in April 2011, he was given a prescription for the medicine Pravastatin Sodium when he should have received a prescription for Paroxetine.
Pravastatin is a drug primarily used to lower cholesterol. Paroxetine, also known by the trade name Paxil among others, is an antidepressant.
Edgeston’s estate is seeking in excess of $350,000 for personal and financial damages suffered as a result of the alleged medical error.
