The incident happened July 28 about 1:30 p.m. at the Burbank Water Park pool, 6100 W. 85th Street.
Dudlo said an on-duty lifeguard saw the boy underwater and pulled him from the pool. Lifesaving measures were administered to the unresponsive child by the pool staff. The boy was reported to be conscious by the time paramedics arrived.
A source said the boy may have been underwater for as long as two minutes before he was rescued.
The boy was transported by the Burbank Fire Department to an area hospital where he was kept overnight for observation. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to Dudlo.
The child is believed to have been participating in the Burbank Park District Summer Fusion Fun Camp at the time of the incident.
