UPDATED 11/19/13 2:46 p.m. to include description of the offenders
Police are looking for two men who robbed a Burbank grocery store Monday evening. The robbery took place about 7:30 p.m. at Genean Bakery & Grocery, 5910 W 87th St.
According to the owner, he was alone in the store when two men wearing ski masks entered the business and rushed the counter at the back of the store. The owner reported that both men were armed with handguns.
The suspects forced their way behind the counter where the owner was standing. One suspect ordered the owner to sit on the floor and held him at gunpoint while the other suspect emptied the cash register.
No shots were fired and no one was injured. According to the owner the suspects got away with about $400 to $500 in cash and coins.
The men then fled the store on foot, heading westbound down 87th Street. A search of area by officers and K9 units came up negative.
The owner said the store is equipped with surveillance video that Burbank detectives will examine on Tuesday.
The Burbank Police gave the following descriptions of the offenders:
Suspect 1 - male black, approximately 20 yrs old, 5'06-5'08, 170-190 pounds, wearing a ski mask gloves and dark clothing displaying a dark handgun.
Suspect 2 - male black, approximately 20 yrs old, 5'08-5'10, 150-170 pounds, wearing a ski mask gloves and dark clothing displaying a dark handgun.
The owner stated this was the first time his store was robbed but said the Family Dollar store one block west had been robbed at gunpoint last year.
