St. Laurence High School was placed on a soft lockdown Friday afternoon as law enforcement responded to a report that three Airsoft pistols were missing from the school’s physics lab.
Airsoft guns are non-lethal replica firearms — that typically fire a round plastic pellet.
According to the school, the Airsoft guns are normally secured in the physics lab and are used for science experiments.
According to a post on the school’s Facebook page, “Teachers and students informed the administration immediately of the missing items. At that time, the school was placed in a soft lockdown to ensure student safety. The school contacted Burbank police, who assisted us with the search for the missing items.”
The Facebook post stated that four students were responsible for the missing pistols. It is unknown if the students will face school discipline.
The lockdown was lifted and students were dismissed for the day with no further incident according to the school.
The Burbank Police Department could not be reached in time for comment.
