A Burbank woman summoned police to her home in the 7100 block of West 82nd Place Tuesday after discovering that her car window had been broken sometime overnight.
Burbank Police inspected the 2001 Honda and discovered several bullet holes in the vehicle. Police cordoned off the street and a search of the area yielded several bullet casings. Evidence technicians also recovered spent slugs from within the vehicle.
No other damage was discovered and there were no reports of injuries.
The owner told police that the car was intact as of 6:00 p.m. Monday night. The damage was discovered about 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. A dollar estimate of the damage was not immediately available.
Although there were no witnesses, several neighbors told police they heard gunshots in the early morning hours. Burbank Police say they did not receive any calls of shots fired.
Division Chief Mike Dudlo said, “[A resident] in the area thought they heard gunshots in the early morning hours but never called police because they thought it was a dream.”
Dudlo said the investigation is ongoing.
