The Burbank Park District is hosting their 3rd annual “Pet-A-Palooza” (formerly called “Petnic”), Saturday, Sept. 28 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at Newcastle Park, 8050 S. Newcastle Ave.
This free event is geared to our canine friends but not limited to dogs; all pets are welcome. Park District dog trainer and Pet-A-Palooza organizer Kim Bandusky said, “You don’t want to miss this pet-friendly event. This event is all about celebrating our pets whether they are furry, feathery, iguana-ish or hamster-ish, etc.”
Pet-A-Palooza will feature a pet costume parade, music, food (human & pet), a variety of vendors and crafters, Petcasso Caricatures, and pet contests (prizes awarded). The Pet Costume Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the pet contests to follow including, “Most Unique” pet, “Best Kisser,” “Smallest Pet,” “Largest Pet,” “Musical Sit” winner, and “Push-Up Champion.”
Animal Welfare League (Chicago Ridge) and NAWS (National Animal Welfare Society in Mokena) will be on-site with adoptable pets. The event is free but donations of dog or cat food for the rescue shelters are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate, please bring either dry or canned food with you the day of the event.
(Please note, per park district rules, all dogs must be leashed.)
