Burbank police released the name of a man found dead in Narragansett Park last night. The 61 year-old homeless man was identified as James Nanfeldt.
Nanfeldt’s death has been ruled an accident by the the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. According to the medical examiner, Nanfeldt died of hypothermia. An autopsy found Nanfeldt suffered from a multitude of heart and other health problems.
Burbank police responded to a call about 5:30 p.m., Monday evening of an unresponsive subject lying in a wooded tract of Narragansett Park near the area of 75th Street and Narragansett Avenue. A man who used a park path to walk to work spotted the body and contacted Bedford Park police. Bedford Park authorities alerted the Burbank Police Department after it was determined that the body lie within the Burbank city limits.
Nanfeldt was declared dead on the scene. Police say there was no decomposition and believe the body was there less than 24 hours.
