A man and woman told police they were driving in a car when another person fired gunshots at their vehicle. At least two shots were fired — none of which struck the vehicle, according to reports.
The couple sped from the scene and reported the shooting to police a short time later.
Division Chief Mike Dudlo, of the Burbank Police Department, said the shooting was a domestic-related incident.
One of the victims identified the shooter as the ex-boyfriend of a family member. The recent breakup of a long-term relationship within the family caused animosity between the shooter and the victim, Dudlo said.
Police recovered two bullet casings at the scene. One of the shots struck the windshield of a parked car and the other shot was unaccounted for, according to Dudlo.
“There were no injuries,” Dudlo said. “Officers conducted a house-to-house search in the area to make sure residents were okay.”
Dudlo said there were no other witnesses to the shooting but several people reported seeing a white box truck speeding westbound on 78th Street immediately after the shooting.
Dudlo said the investigation is ongoing and Burbank police are actively searching for the gunman.
