Burbank police are searching for a person who called 911 Friday morning to report a shooting. Police say the call was a hoax.
According to Burbank Police Division Chief Mike Dudlo, emergency operators received the call about 1 a.m. The unknown caller told dispatchers that a person had been shot inside a residence in the 7700 block of South Parkside Avenue.

Police secured the area and evacuated the family to safety. Investigators searched the home and surrounding area and confirmed that no such shooting had taken place.
Due to the serious nature of the incident, the bogus call is actively being investigated by police. According to Dudlo, Burbank detectives have asked for assistance from other government agencies to help them identify the caller
