Burbank police responded to a call of shots fired in the 5600 block of 83rd Place around 9:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22. Neighbors told police a couple who live on the block were arguing outside when the female began shooting the man’s 2002 GMC Yukon Denali striking it several times, according to Division Chief Mike Dudlo of the Burbank Police Department.
Police declined to release the names of the couple citing the domestic nature of the incident.
The man — who was not inside the vehicle when the woman shot it — fled the area on foot. According to Dudlo, the woman told responding officers that she placed the gun inside the residence and gave them permission to retrieve it. Police recovered the weapon and placed the woman under arrest.
The 41-year-old male was spotted by police a short time later near 81st Street and State Road. After questioning him, police determined the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody.
The woman who possesses a valid FOID card was charged with one felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm. She was scheduled for a bond hearing over the weekend at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2650 S. California, Ave. The results of that hearing are unknown at this time.
The man is currently being held at the Cook County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
