Division Chief Mike Dudlo of the Burbank Police Department said the 66-year-old woman was waiting near a bus shelter at 79th Street and LaCrosse Avenue around 7:15 p.m. when she was approached by a man.
“The man asked her what time it was and when she looked down she was hit over the head with an unknown object by another man who snuck up behind her,” Dudlo said.
Dudlo said the woman suffered minor injuries and is recovering. The suspects were described as two black males.
Dudlo said Burbank detectives are working with Chicago Police who picked up two men fitting the descriptions of the muggers a short time later.
“We’re working to identify the individuals,” Dudlo said. “Chicago Police recovered the [victim’s] purse, so she’ll get that back.”
Chicago Police found a gun on one of the men but it is unknown if that was the object the woman was struck with, according to Dudlo.
